World Circular Economy Forum 2025 Side-Event - Towards an International Materials Agency
[Registrations through Microsoft Forms below]
As global competition for natural resources increases and environmental impacts worsen, shifting to a circular economy is a fundamental opportunity. However, decision-makers lack access to consolidated and high-quality data on material flows and their impacts as existing tools and databases tend to be outdated, incomplete, or difficult to use. National and international decision-makers are therefore not adequately equipped to systematically evaluate and address risks and opportunities regarding the use of materials (biomass, metals, minerals, fossil fuels).
This side-event will explore the potential of an International Materials Agency to close key data and governance gaps to help decision-makers build resilient and sustainable economies and value chains. The discussion will also address the agency’s possible structure, mandate, and implementation.
The International Materials Agency is an integral part of the IRP Co-Chair Call to Action, which you can read more about and sign up to here.
