The Future of International Arbitration: Emerging Trends and Practical Developments
This two-part panel discussion, organized by ICC Dispute Resolution Services in collaboration with Webber Wentzel and Eversheds Sutherland will explore key developments shaping international arbitration practice.
The first session will examine the 2026 ICC Arbitration Rules and their significance for the evolving landscape of international arbitration. The discussion will focus on how the revised Rules seek to enhance procedural efficiency, promote effective case management and respond to the changing needs of arbitration users, with particular attention to their practical implications for businesses and practitioners in South Africa and beyond.
The second session will explore the growing role of artificial intelligence in arbitration, including its potential to improve efficiency and the challenges it presents for confidentiality, privilege, due process and the integrity of proceedings. Drawing on practical experiences, the discussion will examine how AI tools are being used by counsel, experts and arbitral tribunals, alongside the legal, ethical and procedural considerations surrounding their adoption.
