Join us for an insightful discussion on how East African courts interact with international arbitration, shaping procedural integrity, enforcement practice, and its overall development in the region.

Objective

National courts play a pivotal and complementary role in the arbitral process. Their interventions ranging from granting interim measures to the enforcement, recognition, and setting aside of arbitral awards, as well as other forms of judicial support that arise throughout the arbitration lifecycle continue to shape the development of international arbitration across East Africa.

This panel brings together experienced practitioners to examine recent jurisprudence and practical experiences from the region. Discussions will explore how courts are navigating the balance between necessary oversight and the autonomy of arbitral tribunals, and the implications of this balance for procedural integrity and the enforceability of arbitral outcomes.

Beyond the substantive dialogue, the event provides a valuable platform for young and mid-level practitioners to engage with peers, exchange perspectives, and strengthen their connections within the international arbitration community.
