ICC YAAF: The Resonance of Eastern Wisdom in International Arbitration
This ICC YAAF event, themed “The Resonance of Eastern Wisdom in International Arbitration,” aims to provide a platform for young arbitration practitioners to engage in in-depth exchange and learning. The event will focus on how Eastern wisdom—particularly traditional Chinese culture and ways of thinking—can positively and profoundly influence international arbitration practice. By integrating Eastern philosophy with contemporary arbitration skills, we seek to assist young arbitration practitioners to enhance their cross-cultural understanding and professional competence.
The event is ideal for young arbitration practitioners, researchers, and students interested in the intersection of international arbitration and eastern culture, as well as legal professionals looking to improve their arbitration and cross-cultural skills.
This event includes two panel discussions.
- Panel I: “The Art of Dual Mastery: Bridging Arbitral Reasoning and Advocacy Skills,” will explore how arbitrators and counsels balance logical reasoning and advocacy skills in different roles, and from a comparative perspectives between China’s and international practices.
- Panel II: “Eastern Culture and Distinctive Practices of Arbitration Practitioners,” will examine unique mechanisms, communication styles, and values in Chinese arbitration practice from an Eastern cultural perspective, and discuss their adaptation and innovation in international arbitration.
