Join us online or in Abidjan, the 'pearl of lagoons', for the first edition of a series of 'ICC YAAF Africa Seminar and Networking' sessions. These events center on the diverse, unique African perspectives in Arbitration and ADR.

This one-day seminar offers an invaluable opportunity for young and mid-level arbitration practitioners to gain insights from experienced arbitrators on African particularities and other hot topics in Arbitration and ADR.

Arbitration and ADR are increasingly present in the legal and judicial industry in Africa; however, the western modernisation of the practice often obscures the fact that such dispute settlement has historically been used throughout Africa.

This event creates a unique opportunity for regional experts to examine how Africa’s rich cultural heritage intersects with contemporary legal challenges. Discussions will address the effectiveness of regional arbitration institutions, explore diverse legal perspectives across common law, civil law, and North African frameworks, and emphasise practical approaches to drafting robust, enforceable arbitration agreements. These agreements will be specifically tailored to an African context, designed to eliminate weak or problematic provisions, and empower practitioners to confidently navigate and shape the continent’s evolving ADR landscape.

Who should attend?

Legal practitioners, ADR practitioners, corporate counsel, judiciacry officials, business professionals and university/law school students.
