Join us for the second edition of the ICC Arbitration Breakfast in Romania. 

Building on the success of our 2025 inaugural edition, this event provides an essential forum for professionals to explore key developments in ICC arbitration. The discussions will focus on tribunal constitution and arbitrator selection, as well as provisional measures rendered by arbitrators, emergency arbitrators and national courts. Featuring leading voices from Romania's arbitration community, the event brings together experienced in-house counsel and practitioners to share strategic approaches and practical insights. 

This event series has been initiated and co-hosted by the current ICC Court members for Romania, Ioana Knoll-Tudor and Sebastian Gutiu. It also provides attendees with the opportunity to connect with peers, leading experts, and top-level representatives of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. It creates valuable networking opportunities for everyone involved in international dispute resolution. 

Who should attend? In-house legal teams from companies across various industries, private practice lawyers advising on international arbitration, arbitrators, mediators, business professionals, academics, students and.

Panel 1 | Tribunal Constitution and Arbitrator Selection 

The panel will explore key issues surrounding the constitution of arbitral tribunals and the challenge of arbitrators under the ICC Rules, with a focus on both procedural mechanics and strategic considerations. Issues such as the confirmation and appointment process, party autonomy within the ICC framework, and the role of the ICC Court in the formation of arbitral tribunals will be addressed.

Panel 2 | Provisional Measures by Arbitrators and Emergency Arbitrators 

The panel will examine the interaction between arbitral tribunals, ICC emergency arbitrators, and national courts in the context of provisional measures and interim relief. The speakers will discuss the scope and limits of the emergency arbitrator’s powers, the transition of authority once the arbitral tribunal is constituted, and the circumstances in which parties may still turn to national courts. The discussion will also focus on the enforceability of emergency and interim measures, the role of national courts, and practical strategies for coordinating relief across arbitral and judicial fora to preserve rights and assets effectively.
